When I was growing up, my parents used to say to me: Finish your dinnerpeople in China are starving. I, by contrast, find myself wanting to say to my daughters: Finish your homeworkpeople in China and India are starving for your job. Thomas Friedman/06.24.2004
I often noticed that while the admirals around the table vigorously shook their heads in disagreement, the younger officers lining the back walls nodded their heads in assent. This was a huge lesson for me: If one was going to change things, one needed to focus on the mid-level officers.
