3. Answer 1.What method of marketing, has worked best for you as a graphic designer? Business cards, website marketing, once you have a client who works with you try to meet more customers through them. Also, always market yourself in a social, business or family/ friend environment and try your best to develop contacts! 2.How much time and money do you spend on marketing in a year? This is a difficult question to answer. I don't know if I have an exact answer for you. The better you market yourself is a good thing. 3.what is the best way for securing your work/commissions? Have a contract with your client and discuss with them what your time frame of the project is and make sure you meet there needs as well 4.what was your first step towards promoting yourself as a designer? developing your individual style and brand as a designer. As a successful designer you should have unique talent in your design techniques which make you different from other designers. 5.How do you brand your work? 6.Do you hold exhibitions, lectures, etc? I have been apart of exhibitions of other artists and also have been in some as well. I have a compassion for photography and photo editing- some of my work has even been on Channel 5 News 7.How do you make sure your name/website has a high rank on search engines? Make sure that you have good meta tags and linkage to each specific web page you have within an entire website. I have maintained a total of 2-3 websites and have found out that to make sure you are on the TOP of a search engine you must market your website and let others know not only through the internet but by all forms of media that your website is one they should check out!! 8.How do you make sure your clients return for more design work? You make sure you cater to there needs and ask the client open ended questions and recommendations. I would recommend making websites as interactive as possible- use slide show photos, animation and make their website be suite for there clientele. 9.What do you think are the most important skills for a designer to have/develop? It is essential for designers to be efficient problem solvers. Not all tasks which a designer take on are easy but if you know the resources to go to for the correct information on how do go about completing a project, this is one of the first steps to success
