4 Introduction  Curriculum Vitae: an outline of a person's educational and professional history, usually prepared for job applications. Another name for a CV is a résumé. 3

5  Your virtual presence in front of the employer  Personal details are highlighted in the best possible way  "sell" your skills, abilities, qualifications and experience  There is no "one best way" to construct a CV Everyone has potential Everyone has more skills than they think they do Everyone can write a good CV Why do we need a CV?

8 Introduction A good CV will:  Create such an impression on the employer that they will not be able to turn you down for interview.

9 How to produce a good CV?  Proof read!  proof-reading for spelling, punctuation and other errors.  Check, draft, re-draft and check again!  Make sure it’s the best document you possess

10 How to produce a good CV? – Do’s  Use a standard font size in black ink  Include recent and relevant work experience (paid or voluntary)  Keep it short (2 pages for recent graduates)  Use positive action verbs such as ‘organized, delivered, accomplished, achieved’  Include a statement about your career aspirations and what you have to offer the employer (your objective!)  Be honest, but positive  Proof read and spell check

11 How to produce a good CV? – Don'ts  Do it in a rush  Leave gaps in employment  Lie  Include irrelevant personal details such as marital status  Simply write a list of duties under work experience (remember you’re selling yourself!)  Use flashy or large font
