1 Pollution!!!

2 Ways to Reduce Air Pollution We make choices everyday that can help reduce air pollution. Below are a few ideas that you can prevent air pollution. At Home Conserve energy - turn off appliances and lights when you leave the room. Recycle paper, plastic, glass bottles, cardboard, and aluminum cans.  Keep woodstoves and fireplaces well maintained. You should also consider replacing old wood stoves with EPA-certified models. Buy green electricity-produced by low-or even zero-pollution facilities.

3 Buy Smart Choose efficient, low-polluting models of vehicles.
Choose products that have less packaging and are reusable. Shop with a canvas bag instead of using paper and plastic bags. Buy rechargeable batteries for devices used frequently.

4 Drive Avoid waiting in long drive-thru lines, for example, at fast-food restaurants or banks. Park your car and go in. When possible, use public transportation, walk, or ride a bike. Use an energy-conserving (EC) grade motor oil. Try to car pull instead of everyone driving.

5 Types of pollution Air pollution Exhaust pipes putting smoke and oil in the air. Land pollution Liter and trash on the ground all over. Noise pollution Harmful and annoying to locale animals. Thermal pollution The heat from lakes can not let plants grow in or near the lake. Water pollution Trash, rocks, food falling in to lakes and rivers.

6 Ways of pollution Nutrients Sediment Bacteria Pesticides Road salt
Toxic chemicals Metals

7 There are many causes of land pollution from the trash we throw away in our homes to waste produced at giant factories chemicals from the trash can contaminate the. The average person in the United States produces around 4 ½ pounds of trash every day! Some of this trash gets recycled. Mining can directly destroy the land, producing large holes in the ground and causing erosion. It can also release toxic chemicals into the air and soil. We all need farms to eat. Farming produces a lot of pollution in the form of chemicals. Animals can pollute the soil.

8 Non/Point source pollution
pollutants carried by water as it runs off over the land. The type of pollutant (sediment, fertilizer, nutrients, pesticides, etc.) depends upon the type of land use. water pollutants discharged from a pipe
