3. N ATIONAL E DUCATIONAL T ECHNOLOGY S TANDARDS When looking at national standards for technology education, it is all about giving students lots of different ways to achieve success via different kinds of technology.

N ATIONAL E DUCATIONAL T ECHNOLOGY S TANDARDS Teachers are expected to meet the following indicators: Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments Model Digital-Age Work and Learning Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership

M ARYLAND T EACHER T ECHNOLOGY S TANDARDS Teachers are expected to use these standards for the basis of their use of technology in the classroom: Information Access, Evaluation, Processing and Application Communication Legal, Social and Ethical Issues Assessment for Administration and Instruction Integrating Technology into the Curriculum and Instruction Assistive Technology Professional Growth

S TATE AND N ATIONAL S TANDARDS S IMILARITIES : I NVOLVING S TUDENTS Both of these standards: Encourage use of the appropriate technology Encourage uses of different kinds of technology Promote looking at possible legal issues before using that technology in the classroom. Hold teachers accountable for teaching and modeling “netiquette” to their students. Hope teachers will use technology often to create a rich environment for student learning.

Teachers are expected to reflect on these evaluations to make better use of technology in the classroom.
