Results Cooke’s Principle II Support research and evaluation close to practice Cooke’s Principle III Build linkages, partnerships & collaboration Cooke’s Principle IV Ensure appropriate dissemination BuildingResearchCapacity in IPE&P

Vision A national interprofessional health research network of Canadian health program students, faculty/educators, researchers, clinicians/practitioners, administrators, and organizational leaders engaged in collaborative research and knowledge translation to advance Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPE&P) CIHC- ResearchNet www.cihc.ca/researchnet

Goals To build national capacity for and facilitate research in IPE&P To stimulate research interests in IPE&P by a growing number of graduate students To foster new, and enhance existing, collaboration among those who are interested in conducting, funding or uptake of research in IPE&P To provide a virtual forum/platform for knowledge generation and translation relevant to IPE&P CIHC- ResearchNet

Network Development Formative: Strategic plan, surveys, database and website development Evolving: Network promotion: nationally, internationally, and outside of healthcare; knowledge exchange and translation Maturing: Research interest groups, collaborative research projects, hub of knowledge translation activities relevant to IPE&P research CIHC- ResearchNet THE NETWORK LIFE CYCLE Cited from Browne, Campion, and Stenger (2001)

Breakout Discussion Questions What IPE&P research networks are you currently a member of? Are they organizational, local, regional, national, international? What are your experiences with these networks? Do you see value to an international IPE&P research network? How do you relate to a virtual international network to support research and knowledge translation in IPE&P? What do you see as potential issues/challenges to creating a virtual international network to support research and knowledge translation in IPE&P? What are some possible strategies to address these issues/challenges?
