37 Overview

FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview How is the ECHOS™ administered? Teachers observe students to determine what they know and are able to do and record their observations (on the FLKRS Class Record Form). 38

FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Administration Requirements ECHOS™ should be completed by a teacher, trained in its administration. NOT Kindergarten teachers may NOT administer the ECHOS™ to students they taught in VPK. 39

FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Frequency of Demonstration once The behaviors and skills prescribed in each benchmark need to be observed only once for the appropriate indicator to be entered. 40

FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Planning for Observations Teachers should remember the behaviors and skills they want to observe Teachers should observe the behaviors in context Incidental observations Planned observations 41

FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Planning for Observations With careful planning, it is easily possible to complete FLKRS/ECHOS™ for a class of students within the first 30 school days, using various types of class activities. 43 FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Planning for Observations Get organized to record observations Optional Materials FLKRS Class Record Form Note cards Sticky notes/Mailing labels 43

FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Domain/Benchmark/Indicators Item 1: Concepts of Print Knows how to use a book A.Shows curiosity about all aspects of print B.Identifies front and back of book and where story begins C.Recognizes that the purpose of print is to tell the story 44

FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Suggested Classroom Activities Item 14: Production, Distribution and Consumption Explores the kinds of work that people do and how that work benefits family and community.
