Our Submission to Christ

We tell ourselves “I'm a failure, I've tried to serve God but I don't feel much different from when I first believed. Am I saved, is the Holy Spirit really in me?

What did God save when you received Salvation? You were not just saved from sin – you received the salvation of your Soul. You were saved from this world. 1Peter 1:9 The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.

What is your soul?

The issue we all have is submitting our Soul (the whole self) to Christ

Your will is the most important of these.

God will never override our will. He didn't do it in the garden with Adam and He's not about to start with now!

Luke 22:41- 42 He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."

God desires that we willingly follow him. Willingly do his will. He leads we follow.

1Cr 2:11For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

John 4:24 God is Spirit so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in Truth

GOD communicates to us through our spirit - not our minds. We intuitively sense things in our spirit that our mind does not understand.

Rom 8:26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. Rom 8:27And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.

Your Mind

Rom 8:6The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; Rom 8:7the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.

Rom 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-- his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Body

Gal 5:24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.

Watchman Nee "dying to self" is the dying to the life, power, opinion, and activity of the self outside of God. It is not the death of one's person.

Jesus did not come to annihilate me but to Save Me – I receive salvation. God is in the process of renewing my life, my will, my mind and my actions. This can't happen if I don’t exist.

Rom 8:5Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. Rom 8:6So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. Rom 8:7For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God's laws, and it never will. Rom 8:8That's why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. Rom 8:9But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)

Rom 8:10And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. Rom 8:11The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Rom 8:12Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. Rom 8:13For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. Rom 8:14For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
