SEEI in paragraph form S – Make your specific claim (one per paragraph) E – Elaborate (provide background on this one claim) E – Exemplify (provide a concrete example to support this one claim) I – Illustrate (breakdown the example and connect it back to the claim of the paragraph) T – Transition (lead from one claim to the next)

4. There are many similarities between the laws of the early Hebrews and that of the Babylonians. Both groups developed strict rules to maintain order in a region of the world that was chaotic. The Hebrews followed the Ten Commandments that stress to “honor your father and mother” while the Code of Hammurabi states that “if a son strike his father, his hands shall be hewn off.” Clearly both sets of law stress the importance of respecting ones elders and therefore it must have important to there societies. The focus on respect for elders was extended in both sets of laws to respect for others.
