1. In response to Quad/Graphics’ need for high quality ink that would run on some of the fastest web presses in the world, we started our own ink manufacturing facility in October of 1982. At that time, we named ourselves Melton Color, Inc. The first production batch was produced on February 8, 1983. Later that month we celebrated our first successful press run by serving champagne in one pound ink cans on the M-5. At that time, Harry Quadracci formally introduced us as “Chemical Research/Technology Co.”
