What Is The Love/Avon Army of Women The Love/Avon Army of Women is a program of the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) working to eradicate breast cancer through innovative research, education and advocacy. The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation received a grant from the Avon Foundation for Women to launch the Love/Avon Army of Women in October of 2008. With over 350,000 women signed up to date, the mission is to recruit ONE MILLION WOMEN to participate in breast cancer research.

3. The Goals of the Army of Women (AOW) To recruit one million women of every age and ethnicity, whether a survivor or someone never affected by breast cancer, to receive emails about how they can partner with breast cancer researchers and directly participate in the research that will eradicate breast cancer once and for all. To challenge the scientific community to expand its current focus to include breast cancer prevention research conducted on healthy women.

4. Women of any age (over 18) sign up online agreeing to READ about research studies via email. Minimal information is collected in advance. E-blasts are sent to members of the Army of Women 2-4 times a month, describing a particular study that is researching the causes of breast cancer, eligibility criteria, and requirements. If an Army of Women member fits the eligibility criteria and wants to take part in a study, they can RSVP to participate in a study directly from their email or forward to a friend/family member. Distribute information – Distribute Army of Women postcards around campus, focusing on areas frequented by women Signup tables – Set up a table at your school’s sporting events or other activities that draw large crowds, or pair with your school’s women’s center or wellness center to hold sign-up events Chapter/Panhellenic meetings - Present the Army of Women mission to your sorority during your weekly chapter or panhellenic meeting (s) and encourage all sisters to sign up for the AOW. 9. Online and Social Media Promotion Link to AOW from your homepage by including the Army of Women logo and link to www.armyofwomen.org directly on your homepage.
