1 HOPE FOR TODAY Revival Series
Tonight's Subject: “SHOULD ALL CHRISTIAN’S SPEAK IN TONGUES”

2 Acts 5:3,4 3—But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4b—…Thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

3 1 John 5:7 5—For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father; the Word, [Who is the Word—Jn. 1:1-3,14—Jesus] and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one.

4 Matthew 3:16,17 16—And Jesus…went up straightway out of the water; and lo the heavens were opened…and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon Him. 17—And…a voice came from heaven saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

5 John 14:6—I am the way the truth and the light.
Deuteronomy 32:4—A God of truth. John 16:13—However, when the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth.”

6 John 16:23—…Whatsoever ye ask the Father in My name He will give you.”
Romans 8:26—Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities. For we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

7 Romans 5:8—But God commended His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Matthew 26:39—“Let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou will.” Ephesians 1:13—In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

8 Ephesians 4:30 30—Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

9 Genesis 1:2—And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:26—“…Let US make man in OUR image, after to OUR likeness;”.

10 John 14:15—If ye love Me, keep My commandments.
Acts 5:32—(God gives the Holy Ghost)...To those that obey Him.

11 John 14:16,17,26 16—And I will pray the Father and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever; 17—Even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him, for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 26—But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said to you.

12 John 16:7,8,13,14,15 7—Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you: but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. 8—And when He has come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

13 13—Howbeit, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth; for He shall not speak on Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear He will speak: and He will show you things to come. 14—He shall glorify Me: for He shall receive Mine and shall show it unto you. 15—All things that the Father hath are Mine: therefore said I, that He shall take of Mine and shall show it unto you.

14 Acts 1:4-5,8 4—And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not to depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” saith He, “ye have heard of Me; 5—For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days hence.” 8—“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

15 1 Corinthians 12:1—Now concerning spiritual gifts brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

16 Ephesians 4:11-17 Romans 12:3-8 1 Corinthians 12

17 Ephesians 4:12,13,16 12—For the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13—till we all come to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

18 16—From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

19 Ephesians 4:11 11—And He gave some apostles, and some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers:

20 Romans 12:4,6 4—For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the SAME FUNCTION. 6a—Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us,.

21 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 4—Now there are diversities of gifts but the same Spirit. 5—And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6—And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7—But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

22 8—For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9—To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

23 10—To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11—But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

24 1 Corinthians 12:12-31 12—For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13—For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 14—For the body is not one member, but many.

25 15—If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body?
16—And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 17—If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

26 18—But now hath God set the members everyone of them in the body, as it hath pleased Him.
19—And if they were all one member, where were the body? 20—But now are they many members, yet but one body.

27 21—And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 22—Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:

28 25—That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the care one for another. 26—And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

29 27—Now ye are the body of Christ and members in particular.
28—And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

30 29—Are all apostles. Are all prophets. Are all teachers
29—Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30—Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?

31 31—But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I unto you a more excellent way.

32 Acts 2 Acts 10 Acts 19 2 Corinthians 14
Mark 16:17 Acts 2 Acts 10 Acts 19 2 Corinthians 14

33 Mark 16:15, 17,18 15—“Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” 17—And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name they will cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18—They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

34 6—But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
Matthew 10:5,6 5—“Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans. 6—But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

35 Acts 2:1-12; 16-18;21 1—And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2—And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3—And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

36 4—And they were filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5—And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6—Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

37 8—And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
7—And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? 8—And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

38 9—Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia 10—Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, 11—Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

39 12—And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
16—But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17—And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

40 18—And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour in those days of My Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 21—And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

41 Acts 10:44-47 44—While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45—And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

42 46—For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God
46—For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47—Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

43 Acts 11:15,17 15—And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, AS ON US AT THE BEGINNING. 17—Forasmuch then as God gave them the LIKE GIFT AS HE DID UNTO US, WHO BELIEVED on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

44 Acts 19:1-6 1—… Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2—He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

45 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

46 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6—And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

47 Acts 2:41—3000 Baptized on Pentecost
Acts 8:38,39—Ethiopian Eunuch; Acts 9:18—Apostle Paul; Acts 16:15—Lydia & her household; Acts 16:33—Philippian Jailer

48 1 Corinthians 12:23—Those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

49 1 Corinthians 14 1—Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye prophesy. 2—For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries

50 3—But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
4—He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself: but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

51 5—I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesieth: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifiying. 6—Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shal speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?

52 7—And even the things without life giving sound, whether pipe harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? 8—For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? 9—So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? For ye shall speak into the air.

53 13—Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
14—For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15—What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

54 16—Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen as thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest? 17—For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified. 18—I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

55 19—Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

56 23—If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad? 24—But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all: 25—And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest: and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

57 27—If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two or at the most three, and that by course; and let one interpret. 28—But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. 33—For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

58 40—Let all things be done decently and in order
39—Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. 40—Let all things be done decently and in order

59 1 Corinthians 12:31—But covet earnestly the best gifts: And yet show I unto you a more excellent way. 1 Corinthians 13—1-3—Superiority of Love 4-7—Necessity of Love; 8-13—Eternal Duration of Love

60 Galatians 5:22—But the fruit of the Spirit is LOVE.
Romans 5:5—And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us.

61 John 13:35—By this all shall men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love for one another.
Romans 12:9-18,21—Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
