Analyze main idea and supporting details of music by writing a SHORT RESPONSE for each musical selection.

13 Main Idea Main idea: the idea that holds the story/text together; what the WHOLE story is about – Directly stated: main idea stated at beginning or end of story/text. – Implied: “read between the lines”; you have to figure out the suggested main idea.

17 Main Idea Traps On the FCAT… – 1 or 2 answers out of 4 will be a supporting detail, not the main idea. – 1 answer out of 4 will be a BOGUS answer.

D.The author loves his children.

19 Main Idea and Music When we listen to music, we tend to find the main idea automatically. The point of today is to expose you to some (hopefully new) music…and for you to write down the main idea AND supporting details.

20 Main Idea and Music You will be listening to 5-7 songs. YOU WILL HAVE A CHOICE BETWEEN 2 SONGS For each song, you need to write 4-5 lines identifying the main idea and supporting details We will do the first one TOGETHER, so you will know what to expect.
