25 Activities (cont.) »News Reporters »Students will discuss non-fiction stories and historical places »In small groups, students will choose a historical place and research »Groups will video record a news broadcast displaying learned information about their place

26 Activities (cont.) »Field Trip Teachers »Students will venture on a field trip to a local or state historical place »Students will record learned facts in a history log »After field trip, students will teach another class about their place and what they experienced when they traveled there

27 Activities (cont.) »Center Travelers »Teacher will set up 5 travel centers in the room that will display pictures, information, and artifacts specific to the place »Students will travel to each center answering questions and then be given a stamp for their passport

28 Activities (cont.) »Clue Finders »Teacher will read the book: Flat Stanley, by Jeff Brown »Students will work together to create multiple paper “Flat Stanleys” »The different “Flat Stanleys” will be sent to the historical places being studied. These places will then send information back allowing the students to find clues about the place

29 Activities (cont.) »Travel Agents »After studying different historical places, students will work in groups to create a travel brochure of an assigned place »Student’s job is to make other people want to travel to their place
