1. The Lincoln Memorial is located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The Lincoln Memorial was built as a tribute to the great President Abraham Lincoln. It represents a symbol of freedom for all.

2. The Bald Eagle The bald eagle is strong and powerful, like America. That is why the bald eagle is our national bird.

3. The Washington Monument The Washington Monument was built to honor our first president, George Washington. It was built to show thanks for all he did for our country. The monument is 555 feet tall and is located at The National Mall in Washington, D.C.

4. The Flag The first flag had 13 stars for the first 13 states (or the 13 original colonies. Our flag today has 50 stars for the 50 states and 13 stripes for the 13 first states.

5. The Statue of Liberty Was a gift from France to the United States for friendship. Is a symbol of freedom and democracy. Was what most people saw when they traveled by ship from Europe to America to find freedom. The Statue of Liberty is located On Ellis Island in New York. From the ground to the tip of her torch, The Statue of Liberty is over 300 feet tall!

6. The Liberty Bell Was made in London, England in 1752. Was rung when the Declaration of Independence was signed to symbolize freedom. No one really knows how it got cracked, most blame it on bad bell- making! It has not been rung since 1846.

7. Mount Rushmore The presidents on Mount Rushmore are: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Those 4 presidents were chosen to represent the founding, growth and survival of the United States.
