Francelette’s Kindness Adventure Card Game

I. Special Rules for different difficulties I. Beginning players to Expert Players II. Being a referee for a game How to referee the game III. Make the game even more interesting Battle event cards

 Beginning Players  The “Francelette Defeated = Game Over” rule is a plot based event based on the game. It is recommended that you do not play with the rule on. The only exception is in a 1 on 1 game. INTERMIDEATE PLAYERS The “Francelette Defeated= Game Over” rule is on. You now have the option to use battle event cards (section 3 of the presentation) to make the game more interesting EXPERT PLAYERS All rules apply and you can change all the stats (all stats return to normal once the game is over OR if you decide to change it otherwise. Stats can be changed with battle event cards (if they apply stat changing events)

 Make sure that each player has the correct deck and the correct character in the deck.  Make sure each player has enough space to play based on the game mat picture provided with the main presentation.  Players ARE ALLOWED to put their character cards in the party area before actually starting. There are only 4 in one deck.  Make sure the players have some access to a 20 sided dice OR a Java program that lets the players get a random number from 1 to 20. Referees can provide players with a 20 sided dice,  Players who want to use the Java program may download the program from my website, but must also download Eclipse Luna, then copy all the code to make it work.  Players can access the Java code on this website: http://www.francelettekindnessadventure.com/java-programs-for-games.html http://www.francelettekindnessadventure.com/java-programs-for-games.html  Players can access downloading Eclipse Luna by going to this website:  http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer.php?Luna http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer.php?Luna

 All the players must decide who goes first. If in a single player game, it will always be Francelette or the selected hero first. In a multiplayer game, it can be dice, high number, etc  Players shuffle their deck, then give their deck to the opponent to shuffle before being placed back to their respective zones (Team Kindness for the Mage-Lettes and Team Dark for Volt)  Make sure that all players draw 5 cards with the player going first drawing 6.

 On any players turn, they are allowed to play 1 item card, 1 armor or weapon card.  If using the intermediate or expert rules, players are allowed to “buy” an battle event card for a chance of an extra play card or another event. Each card is priced at 50 gold coins (Everyone begins with 200 gold coins to start)  Team Mage- Lettes (hero players) are not allowed to attack on the first turn, but Volt is allowed.  When Volt attacks, allow the players to turn over their party members face down and shuffle under the table. They are allowed to put them in any order they want face down after shuffling.  The player playing as Volt will pick a face down player to attack. The players flip that character over and that person takes the damage.

 The player who gets attacked has an opportunity to be saved by a save card(either from a teammates hand or by using a save card event card ) to be saved from taking damage. The player being attacked also can use a block card to take no damage.  The referee can say “no save” if Volt makes a counter attack OR if no other teammates can use block cards OR if the player playing as Francelette has a save card and Francelette is below 50 HP (Triggers a game over automatically in regular mode)  Combat is over once all players finish their attacks.

 The following calls are made by the referee when the situation calls for it. The referee can say the call then use the hand or other signals to call the event.  Make sure as players you listen to the referees or can see what the referee is signaling.  Use the next slides to find out what the referee is calling.

 “Safe” – Used to call a character safe from falling unconscious. (Combat) – Hand Signal: Safe sign from any baseball game  “Fair Play” – Used when the referee sees a fair play in the game, like a substitute play (Hand Signal: Hand pointing right)  “Sub in/out” – Used when a teammate subs out and another one takes their place (Hand signal: Hands make a ‘x’ shape)  “Illegal Sub”- If a player playing as Francelette tries to sub out when affected with the Mind Change card, it is denied by the cards effect.  “Out” – Used when a character falls unconscious (HP at 0) (Hand Signal: Use the out signal in baseball games)  “3 strikes” – If Francelette falls unconscious, the player playing as her gets 3 chances to revive her using a revival item drawn from the deck, has a revival item from the hand, or by rolling higher than Volt via dice. If the player is lower than Volt’s number, it’s a strike. If a player has 2 strikes, go to the rule for “One Away” (Hand Signal: Strike sign from baseball)  “One Away”- If a player playing as Francelette has 2 strikes when attempting to revive Francelette, the player is one strike away from having Francelette defeated and a game over.  Game over – If the player playing as Francelette gets 3 strikes, Francelette is defeated and the game is over. (Hand signal: Out at the plate out sign from baseball)

 If you are playing the beginners version of the game, you should not use this section yet. This section is meant for those who have played the game a couple of times and want a challenge.  Battle event cards can change the game in a lot of ways. From free turns, free items, and free money, to add status effects, reduce HP, and many more.  The next slide will give you some examples…

 “You have found a treasure box in the cave and have obtained 3 potions”  Volt sends out a snake to bite and poison one of the players  Player C cant revive on next turn  You find a good short sword (attack +10)  You get a save card (take damage in place of someone else)  You get a block card (Block an attack heading for you or yourself  You get 200 gold  And many more possibilities

 At the start of the game, each player gets 2 free event cards face down. They are not allowed to use it until everyone has a turn  After that, in order to get event cards, players pay 250 gold coins (represented by poker chips or anything else).  If they get the event card via purchase, the effect of the event card comes in play right away.  Read it carefully and follow the directions because some effects may contain different wordings  If it says to get an item, wirte the name of the item and the effect on a paper or white board to keep track.  NOTE: There are no automatic game over event cards.
