Russia Russia Third on the list of countries with the highest number of Diabetics in the world Undiagnosed in nearly 50% of the cases In 2008 there were about 9,613,000 cases of Diabetes Greatest portion of type 1 Diabetes in Russia is diagnosed in children 10-14 Type 2 Diabetes accounts for about 90% of those diagnosed

Consequences of Diabetes in Russia Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in adults Diabetics suffer heart disease 3-4 times more frequently than those without it Diabetics suffer strokes 2 times more frequently than those without it Diabetes is the leading cause of end stage kidney disease

Infer I believe that the rate of Diabetes in Russia is so high because of the amount of people with poor diets. Like America, there are thousands of fast food franchises that profit from people stuffing themselves with unhealthy food. I think the percentage of children with Diabetes is as high as it is bad decisions.I believe that the rate of Diabetes in Russia is so high because of the amount of people with poor diets. 6 90% of cases are due to lack of exercise and unhealthy diets There is a serious impact on young middle aged children studies show smoking is one of the causes of the increased prevalence rates Serious impact on young people People aged between 40-59 are most diagnosed. Type 2 is most common

Every year in China approximately 1.2 million develop diabetes Estimated population of 46.1 million cases of diabetes Ranked 2 nd in the world for the amount of cases of diabetes!

Inferences The Chinese population tends to consume a great deal of rice and noodles in their diets. These foods contain high levels of carbohydrates and starches. These foods are not getting broken down properly due to lack of exercise. These foods are stored as fat which leads to diabetes, due to the “extra pounds” This is why type 2 is most common in China.

Diabetes in Japan More than 7 out of every 100,00 people in Japan had type 1 diabetes over the last decade About 1.8 percent of the population had type 2 diabetes in 1999 About.2 percent of the Japanese population had diabetes in 1999 There are nearly 7 million known cases of diabetes in Japan today The rates have gone up from 2% to 18%

Inferences The reason for the differences in diabetes prevalence is due in large part to the diet of the Japanese people. They have a diet rich in fish, vegetables, and grains such as rice and noodles. Which is much healthier than the average american diet The reason for the rise in diabetes cases could be linked to the emergence of American food in the Japanese lifestyle, places like McDonalds and Burger King are becoming more and more popular in Asia. Even though it may not be popular the blending of western and eastern food could be he real cause of the rise because rice is very high in glucose and if you mix that with the hamburgers, pop, and french fries of the west it could create a big problem
