2 What is School Violence?
The Center of Disease Control and Prevention defines school violence as violence that is intentional use of physical force or power, against another person, group, or community, with the behavior likely to cause physical or psychological harm.

3 Youth Violence Typically includes persons between the ages of 10 and 24, although pathways to youth violence can begin in early childhood.

8 Some Facts About School Violence
In 2011, 20% of high school students were bullied at school, and 33% reported being involved in a physical fight. More then 7% of 9th through 12th graders reported being threatened or injured with a weapon on school property. An addition 6% reported admitted to bringing a weapon to school for protection. Almost 7% of teachers reported being threatened or physically injured by a student from their school. (Retrieved from about-school-violence‎)

10 Concerns of Weapons in School
Can cause harm to multiple students and teachers in a very short time. Needs to be a major concern in the eyes of the schools. Some schools have installed metal detectors. Some schools have hired security guards. Continuing education on school violence and lock down drills can help in an event of a crises.
