11  California produces roughly 1.4 % of the world's, and 6.2 % of the total U.S., greenhouse gases  Each California resident, per population average, produces approximately 11 Tons of CO2 each year.  All though the per capita CO2 emission is lower than most states in the U.S., California’s large population makes it the 2 nd biggest CO2 producer in the country. The 1 St in the country being Texas.

12 The U.S. CO2 emissions per capita in 2008 was about 18.9 tonnes, with a total CO2 emission of about 6000 million metric tonnes. In 2011 the CO2 emissions per capita is about 20 metric tonnes, and about 5800 million metric tonnes.

13  World 29,321,302 100%  China 6,534,367 22.30%  United States 5,833,381 19.91%  European Union 4,177,817.86 14.04%  Russia 1,729,357 5.50%  India 1,495,362 5.24%  Japan 1,214,543 4.28%  Rest of the world 8,424,010.1 28.7%  World 27,245,758 100.0 %  United States 6,049,435 20.2 %  China & Taiwan 5,010,170 18.4 %  European Union 3,115,125 11.4 %  Russia 1,524,993 5.6 %  India 1,342,962 4.9 %  Japan 1,257,963 4.6 %  Rest of the World 9,508,769.4 34.9% Word CO2 Emissions 2008 (in thousands of metric tons) The worlds total CO2 emission grew by about 28% and China is the new leader in CO2 emission due to its growing economy.
