1 The Purpose of Praise July 5th, 2015 Pastor David Kobelin

2 Living It – How have you been living;
In dependence upon the Father? In dependence upon Jesus? In dependence upon the Holy Spirit? In dependence upon one another?

3 "THE WHOLE PERSON, WITH ALL HIS SENSES, WITH BOTH MIND AND BODY,
Introduction "THE WHOLE PERSON, WITH ALL HIS SENSES, WITH BOTH MIND AND BODY, NEEDS TO BE INVOLVED IN GENUINE WORSHIP." JERRY KERNS

4 The Purpose of Praise/Worship is to
Express our True Nature Revelation 5:13 (NKJV) 13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

5 The Purpose of Praise/Worship is to Transform Us John 4:24 (NCV)
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” "Worship changes the worshiper into the image of the One worshiped" Jack Hayford

6 The Purpose of Praise/Worship is to
Transform Us 1 Chronicles 16:25 (NKJV) 25 For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is also to be feared above all gods. Romans 12:1-2 (NIV) 12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

7 Give Jesus Our Love When we fully understand how much Jesus loves us, the only true response is to love Him back. Matthew 22:36-38 (NIV) 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

8 Give Jesus Our Love Psalm 96:1 (NIV) 1 Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Psalm 104:33 (NKJV) 33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. Revelation 15:3 (NKJV) 3 They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: “Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints!

9 CURRENTLY, WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WORSHIP SONG? WHY?
WHAT DO YOU EXPERIENCE AS YOU SING IT?
