4  What are direct variation and indirect variation?  What do the graphs look like for direct variation and indirect variation?

5  A direct variation is a relation between two variables that have a constant ratio.  If one variable doubles, the other also doubles.  Examples: ◦ Number of weeks until an event and number of days until the event ◦ Mass of an object and its weight (on Earth) ◦ Time interval and distance traveled (for constant velocity)

6  Graphs are always straight lines that pass through the origin, or part of such a line.  Equations are always of the form
