7. CAUSE & EFFECT “Cause and effect is the why and the what! Cause and effect is the why and the what! (sway arms in the air) Example: Cause (why)—I lost my homework. Effect (what)—So…I had to sign in.

8. PROPER NOUN “It’s a proper noun darling (wave hand with a fancy wiggle)!” Example: for super important fancy words like…Concord Elementary, Troy, Meijer, Culver’s, Wal-Mart, Mrs. Walters, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals

9. COMMON NOUN “It’s just a common noun!” Example: for words without a specific name like…cat, dog, person, book, store, place, team, friend, school, house, restaurant

10. SYNONYM “Synonym, synonym means the same(point thumbs toward each other). It means the same!” Example: pretty and beautiful, cold and chilly, happy and glad

11. ANTONYM “Antonym, antonym means the opposite (point thumbs away from each other). Means the opposite!” Example: hot and cold, happy and sad, tall and short, good and bad, thick and thin, hard and soft

12. HOMOPHONE “Homophone, homophone same sound (listen to pretend hand telephone). Same sound (repeat)! Example: to two too, blew blue, flu flew, sew so sow, or oar, no know

13. PRONOUN “A pronoun takes the place of a noun (clap clap). A pronoun takes the place of a noun (clap clap). He, she, I, they, us, and you, a pronoun takes the place of a noun (clap clap).” Example: Sarah walks her dog. She does a nice job. “She” replaces the noun “Sarah” when speaking about the same subject.
