2 Fair Use Guidelines To determine whether or not use of certain materials violate copyright infringement laws one must ask a series of questions.

3 Fair Use 1.Whether the use is for Non-profit or educational purposes. 2.What is the copyrighted material used for. 3.How much copyrighted material is used. 4.Is the material used in the market for payment.

4 Netiquette for Social Media 1.Be original 2.Do not advertise that you looked a person or business up online. 3.Don not use other peoples’ sites to self promote yourself. 4.If you find things online that you like or enjoy share it with your friends. 5.When you are requesting friends while social networking send a message because it is all about making connections.

5 6.Do not post personal opinions that may offend others. 7.Do not add material about others that are not flattering. 8.When posting material try not to post useless material. 9.Always use spell check and don’t send messages when you are angry. 10. Try to use acronyms sparingly unless they are widely known.

6 Plagiarism Definition: to steal or pass off others work as one’s own, to use another person’s work without crediting their work, commit theft, present something as a new idea when actually has been derived from another source. When in doubt cite the material.

7 Online Safety Children are beginning to use computers more and more. Warning signs include: children spending a lot of time on the internet, pornography on child’s computer, long distance phone calls, mail or packages from unknown people, child turns computer off quickly when someone walks in the room, child becomes withdrawn from family.

8 Safety on the Computer Tips for computer safety: 1. Do not save login information on computer. 2.Do not leave computer unattended when logged into important information. 3.Periodically delete browsing history. 4.Look for people trying to look over your shoulder. 5.Do not use public computers to access sensitive information
