Awful first draft is due April 13 or 14, (next Monday or Tuesday). Movie Party: make sure you participate in the discussion. Just being there isn’t enough to get you to Exceeding.

Group discussion  Brainstorm topics for themes in the novel you read  Turn the topics into theme statements (The author believes that:... )  Look for textual evidence to support your theme statement. Note page numbers.  Break into pairs and do this exercise two more times on different topics.  Share your theme statements with the others at your table.  Take careful notes on this conversation and use them to help you in writing your rough draft.
