Students Respond about Favorite Books My favorite book was… Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian - love the voice that Alexie gets across - he relates stories like he's talking to you. Does My Head Look Big in This? because it taught me a lot about Muslims. The Alchemyst. It was so fun, descriptive and inventive. I loved the suspense and all the twists. The True Meaning of Smekday - because it was funny! Unwind, which reminded me a little of The Host but it was an action pact, futuristic, life questioning adventure.

Favorite Parts of the Activity The Battle. It was fun and interesting to see how people worked together and meet new people. Battling because I got to see more readers. Winning - we dominate!!!! Got me back into reading. Having a team and comparing books with them. Purpose to read specific books that were engaging for my students. I really enjoyed the tests and collaborating with team members to get the answers. Getting to find out about new titles in a fun way. My favorite part of the activity was arguing over which book went along with the questions because my group is weird!

Things we would like to say to Blue and Gold It is great that you helped the growth of literacy. You guys are the best! You are awesome! I love you and thank you for funding this! It was awesome and fun! Thank you so much. I had a ton of fun doing this with my friends! Battle of the Books is a great way to get kids to collaborate and read a lot of books Thank you for supporting the readers! It means so much! Thank you so much! This gave kids who don't usually read (not me) a good reason to read. THANK YOU!!! I really enjoyed the food. Thanks for having this. It's a good experience. Thanks for an activity that was encouraging book reading in a fun way. Thank you for putting the “fun” in funding. What a great way to encourage students to read new genres. Thanks for creating this event. I had fun and really enjoyed it. Thanks so much! I had lots of fun and it was a great experience. I'd say thank you and that we wouldn't be able to do hardly a thing without them! Thank you. I normally don’t read. This totally inspired me.

When asked if we should do BOTB again, the unanimous response was…

Thank you, Blue and Gold! We appreciate all you do for our students!
