MATERIALS AND PERFORMANCE

Introduction to Aluminium and Titanium This presentation is going to be about the properties of Aluminium and the uses of this material also the properties of Titanium and the uses of it and then we will add a summary to explain what we did in the coursework.

Properties of Aluminium Aluminium is a shiny and lightweight metal Aluminium is not a transition metal but has many uses and it also has a LOW DENSITY and doesn’t corrode easily. Aluminium can be used to make aeroplanes as it has the same volume of steel but that would weigh much more and the plane would never get of the ground. Aluminium foil is also used for cooking as it stays shiny and doesn’t corrode so can be used again.

Uses of Aluminium Aluminium can be used to make aeroplanes as it has the same volume of steel but that would weigh much more and the plane would never get of the ground. Aluminium foil is also used for cooking as it stays shiny and doesn’t corrode so can be used again. Aluminium’s density is 2700 and the strength of the strongest alloy (MPa) is 300.

Properties of Titanium Titanium is shiny, lightweight but also very expensive! Titanium is a transition metal it has:- High strength Low density Good resistance to corrosion The density of Titanium is 4500 and the strength of the alloy (MPa) is 1400.

Uses of Titanium The uses of Titanium are:- Titanium is used in hip replacements. Titanium also covers the Guggenheim museum in bilbao. Titanium is also used in engine parts in space rockets or high-tech air crafts. Titanium also offers superior resistance to erosion, cavitations or impingement attacks.

Summary In my presentation we have described the properties of titanium and aluminium also we have explained how they are used in every day life.
