In treatment-naive patients with newly-diagnosed Type 2 DM, SGLT2 inhibitors resulted in: Clinically meaningful decreases in A1C and fasting plasma glucose with no increased risk of hypoglycemia Also improved glycemic control in combination with a variety of other antihyperglycemic agents Metformin, sulfonylureas, insulin Side effects generally appear to be mild and transient, while avoiding increased risk of hypoglycemia or weight gain
