SHAPING MINDS, BUILDING LEADERSHIP  Leadership is the transformation of expertise and vision into actions that are judged effective by the led (Cowan & Heywood, 2001)  Academic leadership as ‘… a practical and everyday process of supporting, managing, developing and inspiring academic colleagues...’ (Ramsden, 1998:4)  Academic leadership is the act of building a community of scholars to set direction and achieve common purpose through the empowerment of faculty and staff (Gmelch & Wolverton, 2002)

Highly intellectual, but respect, proud of and preserved ASIAN work culture and traditions. Collaboration – leveraging on each other’s strengths through AUPF platform.

7 Strong and Sustainable Leadership A nation’s success can only come, and be sustainable by an intellectual leader with a strong character. To strategise and ensure that the leadership will ‘be able to withstand the global storms and lead us through challenges high and low to take us to greater heights of success.’ Asian IHL leaders need to be more visible in a changing global HE landscape. 15 Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT) SHAPING MINDS, BUILDING LEADERSHIP Established in January 2008 An organization under the Ministry of Education, Malaysia Is in line with the launching of National Higher Education Strategic Plan (NHESP) - to transform higher education in Malaysia, especially in the area of human capital development.
