2. Aquaculture Also called Aquafarming, aquaculture is the growing and harvesting of marine species in a controlled marine area. Aquafarms are usually built in sheltered marine areas such as in a bay. Aquafarming affects marine life around them because they don’t have as much food to eat and is they don’t get food they would starve to death.

3. Who does Aquafarming affect? Aquafarming affects marine life that surrounds them. If a large number of fish escape, or if the escaped fish are foreign to that area, they can cause serious damage to the existing marine life. What is the damage?

4. How are the oceans being affected? The oceans are affected because so many fish are taken away so the marine life does not have as much to eat so they might go without being able to eat and eventually starve to death. Then there will not be as much marine life in the oceans.

5. How can we as people help? Representative Don Young (AK) introduced a bill in early 2011 that would stop federal agencies from permitting factory fish farms in our oceans until Congress gives them the legal authority to do so. This would stop agencies like the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration from opening up the Gulf of Mexico to factory fish farming this year.
