5 River/Ocean Interactions Dr. Nancy Rabalais studies Gulf hypoxia (Gulf “Dead zone”) Dr. Rodney Powell studies the effect of trace metals like iron and copper on food webs Dr. Mike Dagg researches the role of copepods, a type of zooplankton, in regulating food webs

6 Living Resources Dr. Chris Finelli studies the way flowing water affects how shrimps use their environment Dr. Paul Sammarco researches how larval coral get to oil rigs and other artificial reefs Dr. Ed Chesney researches aquaculture of marine fish species.
