3 Copyright © 2014 RISE. 3 Your SW Champions will be your main channels to recruit ‘survivors’, to distribute emails and to spread the word of Survival Week. Your Champions will create a buzz and keep Survival Week trending Having 4 or 5 Champions will help you succeed best, however you can have as many as you like! The more you have the greater the audience for your SW emails and fundraising! You should aim to have your Champions in place by 22 nd December and raring to go. This will give you the maximum time to get your communications out through as many people as possible! Recruit your SW Champions! Who are SW Champions? How many Champions do you need? FINDING YOUR CHAMPIONS

4 Copyright © 2014 RISE. 4 Use: Social media Email Physical tools, and The provided Comms Pack Fundraising Goal : £2000 + Recruitment Goal: 150 survivors Average donation: £15/person/ week, £15 = 1 child’s month of literacy teachings! Using eye catching emails is a good way to attract attention to groups of your immediate friends and colleagues. See slide 8 for examples How to recruit SurvivorsHow many Survivors do we need? Easy ways to find survivors: Running RISE stands at community events, such as work drinks or events with your Champions Handing out leaflets and getting recruits to sign a ‘pledge sheet’ Hang posters around the office to spread the message Physical Tools Facebook, Twitter and your internal social media sites - Creating trends to nominate friends to take part is great way to spread the buzz. 5 Copyright © 2014 RISE. 5 Start communications as early as possible to ensure you start raising awareness, stepping up in the first week of January and then posting daily by the time SW starts Holding lunchtime sessions about RISE and SW, face to face with potential volunteers, is an effective recruitment tool. Always remember to bring a “pledge sheet” Multi-channel communications will increase awareness (email, social media, leaflets etc). Get a “buzz” going by using social media. Being active on sites like Twitter, Facebook & internal networks will get SW noticed and trending. From there, follow the instructions on the page to create your own, specific fundraising website. It is normally completed in 3-5 simple steps, and takes no more than 10 minutesVirgin Money Giving JustGiving To keep Survival Week alive and kicking in social media is now easier than ever. Write a quick, simple message on sites like Twitter or Facebook, and always remember to use SW’s hashtags: #survival week #iwillsurvive. See the social media guide on the next slide. Don’t forget to take a photo!
