Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is the federal government’s lead agency for development assistance. CIDA’s mandate: to support sustainable development in developing countries in order to reduce poverty and contribute to a more secure, equitable, and prosperous world.

By 2008-09, Canada’s aid to Africa to double its 2003-04 level. International Assistance to increase beyond 2010 and to increase at an accelerated rate as fiscal position improves.
