Calor-2004, March 30A. Gasparian5 PbWO 4 : Optical Properties

8/29/20156 PbWO 4 : Position Resolution vs. Energy  Detector characteristics and resolution have been done in different ways:  with secondary electron beam (PS in Hall B);  with low intensity tagged photon beam (Hall B tagger) σ =2.7 mm @ 1. GeV

8/29/20157 PbWO 4 : Position Resolution vs. impact coordinate

8/29/20158 Lead-Glass: Position Resolution vs. Energy σ =5.6 mm @ 1. GeV

8/29/20159 PbWO 4 : Energy Resolution vs. Energy σ =2.45% @ 1. GeV

8/29/201510 Lead-Glass: Energy Resolution vs. Energy σ =5.7% @ 1. GeV

8/29/201511 Transition Region: PbWO 4 - Lead-Glass

8/29/201512 Transition Region: PbWO 4 - Lead-Glass Reconstructed Coordinate

8/29/201513 Transition Region: PbWO 4 - Lead-Glass Reconstructed Coordinate (E γ = 5.2 GeV)

8/29/201514 Transition Region: PbWO 4 - Lead-Glass Position Resolution (E γ = 5.2 GeV)

8/29/201515 Transition Region: PbWO 4 - Lead-Glass Reconstructed Energy (E γ = 5.2 GeV)

5/10/201017 Sensitivity to Magnetic Field GlueX Col meeting, A. Gasparian Possible modifications:  change the G10 housing to sift ion housing and extend it to ~1”  insert optical extension  extend the brass strips (look at different options first) No need to change the optical wrapping  The current design do not have extended µ-metal on photocathode  Try to shield the FCAL frame with some µ-metal, if it is all possible

5/10/201018 Summary  The Hybrid Calorimeter concept have been successfully reapproved with the HyCal calorimeter in the PrimEx experiment.  Technical and methodical aspects of the Hybrid calorimeter are well understood and tested. On-site expertise is available.  HyCal is equipped with ~2000 channel power supply (CAEN) unit; Trigger and analog electronics are old.  1152 PbWO 4 high resolution, radiation hard crystal detectors are available for future experiments.  HyCal will stay in Hall B up to the end of PrimEx-II experiment.
