Main obstacles and Challenges Delayed field implementation due to high number of trainings as well as high staff turn over Level of involvement of partners is limited and there is a lack of ownership The scope of the project is wide geographically and there are many topics Limited knowledge and no clear strategic orientation on mainstreaming among project team A lot of activities remain to be done to achieve expected results Very limited budget allocation

... continued Lack of knowledge on disability among decision makers and service providers in HIV and AIDS and gender sectors Limited data available on HIV and AIDS among PWDs No coordination between Disability sector / HIV and AIDS sector / gender sector Limited interest of national PWDs organizations about the project topics Only 45% of the total budget is supported by AFD and no new funding found for the next phase

Lessons Learned Situation analysis related to beneficiaries and partners must be well defined to better identify the scope of the work Positioning of HIF should be well defined since the beginning in order to adjust the approach Training materials for deaf persons must be concrete, simple with clear message Importance of trustful relations with both families and local authorities: information, regular visit, female team members Need for evidence-based information for advocating towards decision makers and key national stakeholders

Main Documentation Produced Title of documentTypeYearLanguage Qualitative study on the access to health and sexual violence protection services among PWDs Hand- book 2009English Qualitative study on the vulnerabilities among women and men with hearing impairments Hand- book 2011English HIV and AIDS, Reproductive Health Training curriculum and IEC tools for persons with hearing and physical impairment Hand- book, posters 2010Khmer

Ways Forward No cost extension till June 2012 Withdrawal from double mainstreaming at national level. Focus on mainstreaming disability into HIV AIDS and Gender organizations at national level response only. One pilot approach with 1 DPO maintained Focus on disability mainstreaming into existing local system for the protection of sexual violence survivors Develop primary prevention for sexual violence protection to all women and support for referral of all women with disabilities instead of deaf women only Phase out from partnership with ADD and from direct implementation at Krusar Thmey’s schools Minimized the geographical areas from 13 to 6 districts and topics (RH, HIV and AIDS, SV and Disability)

Thank You!
