1 Preventive Measures on HIV/AIDS Because the most common ways HIV is transmitted is through anal or viginal sex or sharing drug injection equipment with a person infected with HIV, it is important to take steps to reduce he risks associated with these. 1.Know your status. Everyone between the ages 13 and 64 should be texted for HIV at least one. If you are at increased risk for HIV, you should be texted for HIV at least once in a year 2.Abstain from sexual activity or be in a long term monogamous relationship with an uninfected partner. 3.Limit the number of your sexual partner. 4.Correct and Consistent condom use. 5.Get tested and treated for STDs and STIs and insist that your partner does it too. 6.Do not inject drugs. 7.Participate in risk reduction programmes 8.Obtain medical treatment immediately if you think you were exposed to HIV. Adopted the ABC approach to safe sex: A-Abstinence-Abstain from casual or pre-marital sex. Do not be involved B- Be faithful to your partner as a monogamist C-Regular, correct and consistent use of condom during sexual intercourse
