3 Background on the Sector Close to 3.5 Million employees –mostly urban Age group majority between 23-30 Education Graduation and above Highly migrant- Close to 55% of the population move for work Almost 35 % of the workforce in the sector are women. Service staff- third party contract staff from marginalized communities Page: 3

4 Issues in participation Lack of awareness of the electoral process Apathy Notion of a long drawn process of registration Disconnect of the employees in the electoral process Page: 4

5 Enhancing participation Intensive on campus voter registration drive Encouraging to register spouse or an addition member Voter education post registration – opportunity to “connect” and to create awareness Ensuring that all third party contractors are also included in the drives Workshops with representatives from the ECIs to create direct interface Page: 5

6 contd Special focus on women registration as the target group is captive Thrust on social media, senior leadership and internal communications within the corporates as a medium of engagement – Promoting champions Integration voter registration and awareness into HR/Admin function – creating facilitators within corporates Leveraging new technologies – mobile applications and online tools Page: 6

7 Contd Leveraging Corporate volunteering- NASSCOM Foundation runs the MyKartavya a Volunteering platform for the employees of the industry to take offer their time and pro-bono work for development The National Voters’ Day on 25 th January is one such opportunity to use these volunteers to create outreach within the peer base.
