2 Industry/University Cooperative Research Center FIU Center Created in March 2008 FAU Site Created in August 2009 From NSF page: “The I/UCRC program develops long-term partnerships among industry, academe, and government” “Through innovative education of talented graduate and undergraduate students, the I/UCRCs are providing the next generation of scientists and engineers with a broad, industrially oriented perspective on engineering research and practice”. 10 I/UCRC Center Collaborative Research Project (NSF CORBI) University of Maryland, FIU and FAU A Multi-Center Distributed Cloud Computing Collaborative Feasibility Study to Provide Massive 3D Visualization Services for Climate Data on Demand Total: $100K, approved in May 2010

11 CORBI Project - Objectives UMBC, FIU and FAU proposed to implement, test and complete the installation of a distributed cloud computing system based on the open Apache Hadoop architecture operating under the open Sun Grid Engine FAU proposed to complete testing the feasibility of executing the autostereoscopic displays either multiple views or a single view and the 3D depth map on the CHMPR/CAKE cloud.
