4 Preparing to read The people in the picture on page 49 are Guardian Angels. The Guardian Angles teach people about safety and stopping crime. They want to make life better in their communities The man in the center of the picture is Curtis Sliwa. He started the Guardian Angels in Sliwa and the Guardian Angels look like a gang, but they aren’t. They are just people who want to help others. Today the Guardian Angels are in cities in the United States, Japan, Sweden, England, and Italy.
