4 Trainings Providers (in Lithuania) 1. Public Enterprise „American English School“ (AMES) Delivered topic: Communication in English and French for participation in the work of EU institutions. 2. JSC “Europos socialiniai, teisiniai, ekonominiai projektai (ESTEP)” and Vilnius University Institute of International Relations and Political Science. Delivered topics: (1) Assessment of the impact of the EU legislation (2) European policy formation and priorities (3) Consolidated trainings on EU decision making, policy, impact assessment of EU legislation, negotiations. 3. Syndicate: French National School of Administration (ENA), JSC “Europos socialiniai, teisiniai, ekonominiai projektai” (ESTEP) and Vilnius University Institute of International Relations and Political Science.) Delivered topics: (1) EU decision making. (2) Sectorial EU policies. (3) EU legal and institutional system after the Lisbon Treaty. (4) Negotiations and intercultural communication.

5 Training Providers (in Brussels) 1. Centre for Political and Diplomatic Studies (UK) Delivered topics: (1) EU decision making. (2) EU legal and institutional system. 2. Centre for European Negotiation and Decision- Making (Belgium-Switzerland). Delivered topic: Negotiations and intercultural communication.

6 Overview of the training process (2012 February) Status quo:  From 1380 targeted persons 1155 have participated in at least one training seminar.  1122 persons participated in trainings in Lithuania.  33 persons participated in trainings in Brussels.  Average level of satisfaction of all the trainings organized in Lithuania has been very good (over 4,5 points from 5)  Average level of satisfaction of the trainings organized in Brussels has been very good (4,3 points from 5)

7 Issues related with the Project Implementation  Implementation term of the project “Improvement of Professional Qualifications of the Lithuanian Civil Servants Representing the Interests of Lithuania in the EU” (16 mln. Lt) was extended to 40 month (till 2013 August)  Two current project activities were extended – (1) communication in foreign language for persons working in the Permanent Representation; (2) internships in the Permanent Representation, EU institutions, and EU member state’s administrations.  Ongoing negotiations regarding allocation of additional funding for implementation of specific training activities, directly related with EU Council Presidency.

9 Additional training activities (1)  Communication in English - current trainings are extended, envisaging additional trainings for 650 persons who were not included in the initial group  Cooperation between the GSC and EU Council Presidency – trainings delivered by the representatives of GSC on the role of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the role of the Council Secretariat, translation and production of documents, etc.  Negotiations between the Council and the European Parliament - trainings delivered by the representatives of the European Parliament Office on the organization and functioning of the European Parliament; the legislative cycle in the European Parliament; the best practices for negotiations between the Council and the European Parliament.

10 Additional training activities (2)  Skills of effective chairmanship – handling the mechanics of any meeting, tips of how to use and develop the influencing skills, how to cope with conflicts, stressful situations, how to deal with personalities, reach and present decisions.  Priorities, goals, tasks of the Presidency – information session in the eve of Presidency about the Priorities of Lithuanian Presidency and Presidency Programme.  Management of the Presidency process – specific training for persons working at the EU departments who are fulfilling tasks of overall coordination about the key elements of project management.
