8 University of Sunderland CIFM03Lecture 3 8 The Certification Process: ­Perform a readiness audit, review feedback ­When ready, contact certification body/registrar ­Agree assessment date, brief participants, organise ­External Audit team perform on-site assessment ­Audit team provides an evaluation report and findings ­Findings reviewed, any corrective actions carried out ­Corrective actions are verified ­Registration granted ­Regular follow-up audits to ensure compliance ­auditing: documentation, records and improvement

9 University of Sunderland CIFM03Lecture 3 9 ISO 9001:2000 Review of 9001:1994 and other systems such as the CMM, lead to an update to 9001 in December 2000. Existing QM systems had a maximum of 3 years for compliance with ISO 9001:2000 New QM systems were assessed against the updated ISO 9001.

10 University of Sunderland CIFM03Lecture 3 10 ISO 9001:2000 – aim The stress is upon; –meeting requirements, –value of each process, –measuring process performance and effectiveness, –continual improvement, these aims all stem from the quality principles earlier ISO 9001:2000 takes a ‘process approach’ to QMSs – ‘plan, do, check, act’.

11 University of Sunderland CIFM03Lecture 3 11 ISO 9001:2000 - structure Conceptually simpler than 9001:1994, with only 5 main sections to the standard: ­Quality Management Systems; ­Management Responsibility; ­Resource Management; ­Product Realization; ­Measurement, Analysis and Improvement

Analysis - shall inform about conformity to requirements, trends in process and product, suppliers, and customer satisfaction.
