19 309 Repairing Damaged Carpet Glue the new piece into place and run a tractor tool across the seam. Hot glue existing carpet and tape. Place carpet seam tape around edge of hole. Place new piece where the damaged piece was and trim to exact size. Cut the replacement piece to size, using the damaged piece as a pattern. Swing the door open as far as it will go. 2. Pry the door trim near the threshold loose, if necessary. 3. Remove the old threshold. 4. Clean out the threshold recess thoroughly, making sure to remove all dirt and debris from the area. 5. Apply a good coat of caulk to the bottom of the threshold. 6. Install the new threshold. If the new threshold came with screws, use the new screws. 7. Replace the door trim, if it was removed. 8. Secure the threshold and make sure the door opens and closes without striking the threshold. Make sure that the threshold does not hinder passage of a wheelchair across it. 9. Clean the area. Transparency 11.4-2 1. Turn the water supply to the wash basin off and inspect the wash basin drain for damaged or corroded piping. 2. Place a bucket and a towel under the wash basin drain to catch any excess water. 3. Loosen the wash basin drain trap. 4. Allow any water and dirt to drip into the bucket. 5. Loosen and remove all bad piping as well as the bad trap. 6. Ensure that the remaining drain piping is clear from debris. 7. Wipe all piping clean with a towel. 8. Install the new drain trap and drain piping using the manufacturer’s installation instructions. Make sure the replacement drain is the same quality, size, and design as the previous one. 9. Turn the water supply to the wash basin back on and run the water to check the piping for leaks. 10. Clean up the work area, making sure no water or dirt is left under or around the drain.
