Tip 1 – Don’t fixate on the words ▪ Beginners may squint or stare at the words ▪ Don’t be afraid of the moving words ▪ Relax, trying to read fast causes mistakes ▪ Be aware of your facial expressions while reading

Dictate the pace ▪ Don’t try to keep up with the teleprompter ▪ It’s often tempting to read faster ▪ Make the operator adjust to your speed ▪ Trying to read fast can cause more mistakes

Be natural ▪ You are looking at the words ▪ But the people are looking at you ▪ They aren’t thinking that you are reading ▪ Time/practice will help improve presentation Speak slowly, clearly and using a natural rhythm. ▪ Speaking too swiftly or in a stilted manner ▪ Indicates you are reading directly from a teleprompter.

Practice Effectively reading a teleprompter ▪ Is all about confidence & comfort in front of the camera ▪ Practice, Practice, Practice ▪ Eventually it will be natural ▪ You may forget teleprompter is there

Practice in front of a mirror. Read a news story, ▪ Put it down and see how much you can remember ▪ Helps to adjust in case the prompter breaks or goes too fast. ▪ This will help you in any sort of presentation ▪ Not just when using a teleprompter.
