2 Credit Transfer / Recognition of Current Competencies and Prior Learning RMIT University recognises the skills and knowledge you have gained through formal and informal education and training, and work or life experience. 3 Credit Transfer / Recognition of Current Competencies and Prior Learning The two main types of recognition available are: Credit transfer – where you are exempted from one or more courses because you have previously completed these courses or equivalent nationally recognised VET courses; See http://www.rmit.edu.au/browse;ID=g5tdml2vzwok for further informationhttp://www.rmit.edu.au/browse;ID=g5tdml2vzwok Recognition of prior learning (RPL) – where you gain full credit for one or more courses for skills and knowledge gained through life and work experiences and through non-accredited training. 4 Credit Transfer / Recognition of Current Competencies and Prior Learning If you have previously successfully completed the requirements of a unit of competency or module and you need to demonstrate that this competency has been maintained, you may apply for Recognition of Current Competency (RCC). Note that this form of recognition only applies in a few skill areas such as First Aid, Occupational Health and Safety and in some licensed trades. 6 Language Literacy & Numeracy Study and Learning Centres/ Drop-in learning centres The SLC drop-in is a friendly environment that gives you the opportunity to work with experienced teaching staff on: Assignment writing and study skills planning an essay improving referencing technique building English language skills managing your time maths, physics and chemistry. 8 Literacy and Numeracy Assessment – Pre Training Review. A perquisite for entry into the Diploma of Nursing is the VETASSESS Test. The VETASSESS test is also used as a tool to conduct a pre training review of your Literacy and Numeracy skills. Experience has show that students who score below 25 for either Literacy or Numeracy find it harder to complete there Nurisng Program. Therefore all students who scored below either 25 or less for Numeracy or Literacy or 12 or less for English writig Skills are requested to make use of RMIT’s Study and Learning Centre. Compulsory ESL classes held on Thursdays at 9:00-12:00 Study and Learning center drop in and sign up for introduction Attend Thursdays afternoon English classes (Karen Dellar) Pre-clinical hurdle assessments Islets AHPRA Registration
