The German name for Christmas is das christfest. In Germany they speak German

3 Why do people celebrate Christmas in Germany?
To celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

4 When is Christmas in Germany?
The preparations often start on the eve of December 6th. Christmas day is on the 25th just like us!

5 What are some traditions of this holiday ?
They put boots outside their doors and Saint Nick comes and puts presents in the boots. If they are bad Saint Nick puts twigs in the boots. Some homes in Germany have several Christmas trees and in all towns across Germany can be seen glittering and glowing.

6 More Traditions Children leave letters on their windowsills for Christkind, a winged figure dressed in white robes and a golden crown who distributes gifts. Sometimes the letters are decorated with glue and sprinkled with sugar to make them sparkle.

7 What are the decorations for Christmas in Germany?
Christmas trees are very important for Christmas in Germany.

8 What are some special foods for Christmas in Germany?
In Germany apparently they are very good at making gingerbread cookies! Germans make beautiful gingerbread houses and cookies. The German Christmas tree pastry, Christbaumgeback, is a white dough that can be molded into shapes and baked for tree decorations.

9 Do the Germans wear any special clothing?
They really just try to wear nice clothing.
