21. Poverty in Texas Schools Roughly 3 million public school students live at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level. Nearly one half of these students attend schools where the majority of their peers qualify for free or reduced priced meals

23. Success in the 83 rd Legislature SB 376 expands the school breakfast program to the entire student body at campuses that have 80% or more economically disadvantaged students.
