4 Presentation Scope We have the pleasure to give a short brief about CSO focusing on:  What is the CSO?  What could the CSO offer?

5 What is the CSO The Civil Status Organization (CSO) was established by law 143 at 1962 it is the only Egyptian Organization responsible for providing registration services for: National ID cards for Egyptian citizens Birth certificates Marriage certificates Death certificates Divorce certificates

6 Since 1990 CSO started building a national database (with disaster recovery) for civil information including personal information that is continuously updated to reflect any changes in the society. During 1997 around 10 issuing centers were established and distributed all over Egypt for ID card services. In 1998 CSO ID card factory was established with the latest state-of-the-art equipments and technology where the first National ID card was produced according to the international ISO standards and security measures with a capacity of one million cards per month. 7 All citizen data was collected since 1900 - The old fully manual system was automated using state of the art database and equipment Automated all data to database 1990. With all events ( birth, death, marriage, divorce and family tree.

8 About 70 million ID cards have been already personalized and delivered to citizens. CSO card factory produced over 80 million blank National ID cards in its facility with all security elements selected to match the highest security levels depending on our highly qualified experts and know-how. 9 Civil Status Organization (System Components) 10 regional issuing ID card centers distributed all over Egypt, will be increased to 15 centers by early 2011. Blank card production facility. About 600 computerized citizen service offices. Two high storage capacity mainframe system. High speed and secured network connected to all the CSO centers.

30 Civil Status Organization (Production Security) Very tight audit system is implemented to track the factory materials for the full cycle of the card production Random check is periodically exercised for each department to assure that all security policies are implements and enforced Highly secured storage facilities (Safes) for finished cards as well as work-on-progress Highly secured storage facilities for the card hologram and special ink Specialized security design department for card secured printing and hologram design

31 Now the CSO is implementing its new upgraded factory production line to be able to produce and deliver electronic smart multi application cards with the highest security levels from several materials carrying the recent and updated security depending on experience in the ID card field and also sharing knowledge with relative international expert houses Civil Status Organization (Upgrading to Smart)
