2 job description When sudden illness or acute injury strikes, patients turn to hospital emergency rooms for immediate medical assistance. An ER doctor, or emergency medicine specialist, is a physician who diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries in a hospital emergency room or other urgent care setting. Emergency medicine is a financially rewarding career, and it also comes with the reward of saving lives. ER doctors require intensive training to know how to shoulder their intensive responsibilities.

3 Duties and positions Emergency physicians often treat patients who have life-threatening conditions. Their primary job functions are to resuscitate or stabilize patients and refer them to the appropriate medical departments.

4 Hours Hours can last up to 9 or more. If you are in a current emergency hours can last to 12 or more depending on the satiation.

5 Yearly rate of pay Emergency Room (ER) earns an average salary of $199,564 per year.. For the first five to ten years in this position, pay increases somewhat, but any additional experience does not have a big effect on pay. A skill in Emergency Medicine is associated with high pay for this job.

6 Needed What all must complete in order to get into medical school is to take premedical courses during their undergraduate education. courses include: biology physics inorganic chemistry organic chemistry. Also participate in activities, such as volunteering at a hospital or clinic, shadowing a physician and gaining leadership experience. Balancing a challenging schedule can show medical school admissions officers that a student is ready to handle the demands of a career. two years of classroom education in the sciences, such as anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology and pathology, followed by two years of clinical rotations where students learn how to diagnose and treat illness in a number of different specialties.

7 why? I chose this job because I would enjoy helping and saving life's. All so a lot of my family is sick with different medical problems and I would like to help find a cure.
