Rural businesses and farmers in particular are generally very good at the practical side of their business but not always so good in the office. It is therefore important for rural business administrators to keep up to date with an ever changing industry and CPD has helped this to happen. Dorrie Campbell

CPD inspired me to gain more skills and knowledge and together with the vision and strength that IAgSA can offer I was more determined than ever to become a farm business administrator. Clare Wise – Total Farm Solutions CPD has become an essential component, through attending sessions and by tailoring them to suit my learning needs they become a real value to the business. – Julie Hadlow

In line with other professional organisations IAgSA membership provides a very good structure for and encourages CPD. The evidence of ongoing training from IAgSA CPD records allows the promotion of members as the top professionals within the industry. It gives confidence to the users of the services provided by an IAgSA member and improves credence of the members within wider professional organisations. – Julie Tucker

CPD has helped me in my professional development by giving me a framework in which to review my current knowledge and skills, and identify what I need to do in order to get them to a level to ensure I deliver an efficient and effective service as a rural business administrator – Jane Sellier

Completing an annual CPD is the hallmark of a professional who is passionate about the work they are undertaking and therefore I feel that IAgSA should become a recognised body to implement this professionalism within the agricultural business sector Margaret Flood

CPD is imperative in keeping me one step ahead and importantly it keeps me flexible and professional. CPD has given me the confidence to expand my role and more importantly, ensures I am providing the best service to my employer. IAgSA’s continuing emphasis on CPD will keep us going forward, to embrace change, to drive progress and to provide direction for rural administrators. Donna Armstrong

I believe it is essential for IAgSA to become a recognised professional body as our jobs are far more detailed than 30 years ago and we have to have far more qualifications, experience and knowledge of the farming industry then when I first started as a secretary. We must have the ability to have access to IAgSA for the new young people who wishes to continue within our profession so that they too will have the ability to have and gain the experiences that they will require to become an excellent rural farm administrator for the future in farming. Mary Veldhuis

WHY HAVE A CPD REQUIRMENT? “Such a requirement contributes to the profession’s objective of providing high-quality services to meet the needs of the public (including clients and employers).” INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF ACCOUNTANTS

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY “Continued development of professional competence and life long learning are critical if the professional rural business administrator is to meet industry expectations. IAgSA has a responsibility to ensure that you continue to develop and maintain the competence demanded by your professional role and the users of your services.” IAgSA
