Overview Hours of Service (HOS) is a Qualcomm hosted system that produces electronic driver logs. These paperless logs are fully compliant with current Hours of Service regulations.

Overview BOT: Beginning of Trip trigger EOT: End of Trip trigger So … what triggers BOT and EOT? HOS sends a signal to the system at two points through the use of two triggers:

Overview NOTE: NOTE: You can manually change the status back to driving to prevent an erroneous EOT. BOT BOT signal is sent when the vehicle has moved 7/10 of a mile. EOT EOT signal is sent when the vehicle is idle for 5 minutes.

Safety Features As a key safety feature, this is designed to minimize distractions to the driver when the truck is in motion. The time showing is the least amount of time before you are in violation of an Hours of Service rule. Once you begin to move, the functionality disappears and is replaced with this DOT countdown clock. Hours of Service

View driver’s current status You may see a message at the top of the data window. The header line shows the driver’s name, if they are active (green dot), the DOT date and DOT countdown clock for that driver. Hours of Service Status is the page on top showing your current status and available time.

Change your duty status Select from the row of duty statuses (abbreviated). OFF = Off Duty ON = On-Duty DRV = Driving SB = Sleeper Berth OFF DRV = Off Duty Driving When you are done, touch OK. Hours of Service You can optionally add a comment in the Note entry box.

Clock In and Clock Out Use these to account for time spent away from the truck. Clock Out is used for times you know that you’ll be away from the truck in the future but still working after logging out. Hours of Service Clock in is for time spent away from the truck in the past.

Using Clock In Example: a driver meeting prior to arriving at your truck. First, type the time the event started. 08:00 Type a note if you like. When you’re done, touch OK. Summary of your activity Progress bars show time left for each HOS rule. You also see your current status, how far you’ve driven that day, and the DOT start of day for your terminal (typically midnight). Hours of Service

What you show an auditor The graph shows your duty status changes for the past 24 hours in a format most familiar to auditors. Use the arrow to scroll through previous days in your duty cycle. View the Day Log The Day Log tab shows duty status details for the past 24 hours. The green check mark indicates that the record was approved. The red exclamation point tells you that a system failure happened at the time of the activity. Hours of Service

The 8-Days tab This shows the total miles driven, driving and on duty time for each day in the most recent duty cycle. The tab label would be 7-Days for drivers with a 7 day duty cycle. If an auditor wants your logs faxed to his office, click the Fax button… Hours of Service 7-Days
