1 Endangered Species (The Prairie Dog) By: Christopher G

2 Why this animal is an endangered species. This animal (The Prairie Dog) is an endangered species because, the farmers are destroying it’s habitat. The farmers are digging down deep into the ground to destroy their den’s and families. The reason why they are doing this is because the Prairie Dogs are taking all of the crops that the farmers had grown.

3 Facts about The Prairie Dog. The Prairie Dog often stands on its hind legs to get a better view. The Prairie Dog has a distribution from Canada to the Mexican borders. The Prairie Dog mainly eats grasses and occasionally grasshoppers. The female Prairie Dog is about 10% smaller than the male Prairie Dog. The Prairie Dog’s tail grows 3- 4 inches long. http://www.okstate.edu/artsci/zoology/ravdb/g raphics/prairiedog.jpg

4 Solutions to Prevent Extinction to the Prairie Dog. Make a sanctuary for Prairie Dogs. Have the farmers fence off the areas that they are planting their crops in. Put something by their crops that smells bad to the Prairie Dogs, so they will not want to take the crops. http://www.fortunecity.com/vi ctorian/song/1147/pictures/a nimalsws/prairiedog.jpg
